Before the Battery is an independent editorial publication that publishes decision-support reasoning about portable power stations and backup power. It is not a store, not a marketplace, and not a manufacturer or merchant representative.

Current scope

Two free decision tools are live and return conservative planning figures, not guarantees. The dated product catalog is evidence-gated: a named product is shown only when a signed, dated evidence row covers the declared situation, and some of those links are affiliate links. No figure on this site is a runtime promise, a price quote, an availability statement or a guarantee that a product will work with your equipment.

No professional advice

Nothing on this site is electrical, safety, medical, legal or financial advice, and no guarantee of performance, runtime or compatibility is made. Backup power for life-supporting equipment must be planned with the device manufacturer and a qualified clinician. Electrical installation work must be done by a licensed professional and in line with local codes.

Specifications, prices and availability change. Published data is dated, and dated data becomes stale. Always verify critical specifications with the manufacturer before purchasing. Material changes to rules or content are logged on the updates page.
