RV air conditioner, no shore power, no soft start

The short answer: in this declared case, six hours per day, no shore power and no soft start do not reduce to a battery-capacity question: mission energy, the daily recharge loop and startup compatibility remain separate gates. This page shows the arithmetic anyway, and then shows why the method refuses to name a product for it. That refusal is the result, not a missing feature.

The case is replayed live from the frozen fixture RV-02 against the current rules engine and catalogue version rv-catalog-2026.08.15.1. It is published as a worked example of the method, not as a purchase recommendation.

2. The arithmetic

The non-air-conditioning loads alone declare 720 Wh per day across 2 devices, over 2 nights, against 800 Wh per day of declared solar. Adding the air conditioner at 1400 W for 6 hours a day is what changes the scale of the problem. The engine’s own working:

Compare this with decision case RV-01, where every peak was declared and the peak gate closed. Here a startup figure exists on paper, yet the peak stays unproven: compressor inrush and soft-start compatibility against a specific unit are not something this method has signed evidence for, so it declines to treat a printed number as proof.

4. Why the verdict says what it says

  • Air conditioning is declared without always-available shore power. Its running watts, starting watts, daily hours and soft-start status are collected and are shown in the arithmetic, but this check deliberately does not qualify an off-grid air conditioner: compressor inrush and soft-start compatibility are not a signed rail here. This is an abstention, not a size.

5. What still has to be measured

  • Confirm the air conditioner's running watts, startup draw, daily off-grid hours and soft-start status — and have compressor compatibility verified against a specific unit before relying on one.

6. Limits of this case

  • TT-30 is a connector, not a service level. A TT-30 inlet does not prove continuous 30 A supply; plan against roughly 2,880 W continuous, and note that most portable stations do not provide a TT-30 outlet without an adapter.
  • No soft start is declared on the air conditioner, so its compressor inrush is the figure that decides compatibility — not its running watts.
  • This architecture calculation on its own names no product, model, price or ranking. An exact SKU is only ever shown separately, by the dated RV catalogue layer, and only when its own evidence and commercial gates pass.
  • This declared trip is sized as a finite mission. It is not sustainable for another day without about 8,560 Wh/day more credited recharge: 9,120 Wh/day is used and only 560 Wh/day is credited back. Stored energy alone never closes an indefinite loop.
  • These are the fixture’s declared inputs, not yours. A smaller air conditioner, fewer hours, a declared soft start or a genuine shore-power connection all change the answer, which is exactly why the diagnostic asks rather than assumes.

7. What the engine did about a product

No exact product was named. This declared case escalates because air conditioning without always-on shore power is an architecture question, the daily recharge loop stays open, and startup compatibility remains unproven against an exact unit.

The escalation is the useful output here: the architecture question — generator, hybrid, or a genuinely serviced pedestal — has to be settled before any capacity number means anything.
